Perhaps it’s a bit of irony that the word antiquarian should be so closely associated with antique books instead of its true meaning of “old things”. Thus, the irony is not lost on me that this post about an antique book is on my Antiquarian Endeavors blog about all things old and beautiful. Regardless, I never pass up any reasonably priced antique that is in mint condition. The antique book shown below, George William Curtis’s “From the Easy Chair”, is no exception and is in pristine condition.
If they have them, books can be roughly dated by their copyright or publish date listed on the opening pages. In this case, the numbers are “MDCCCXCIII” which is “1893”. Like I said, pristine given the age of the book. I’ve not read any works by George William Curtis, including this novel, so I won’t be able to give you a review.
